Product Development at Finora Labs
Merchant discovery, prototyping, and MVP rollout — Wirausaha Merdeka
TL;DR — As CPO of Finora Labs in the Wirausaha Merdeka program (Oct–Dec 2024), I led product development for an MSME POS + bookkeeping app — field-tested with street merchants, built around a 3-tap cashier flow and an X-Score financial health check, closing with an A grade (93.6/100).
The Context
Wirausaha Merdeka (WMK) by Kemendikbudristek RI pairs university founders with industry accelerators. Paired with PT. Mikrobisnis Digital Sejahtera (INAmikro) in Surakarta, I served as Product Developer and Chief Product Officer for Finora Labs — helping Indonesian micro-merchants (UMKM) escape financial fog.
Ground Reality: Meet Mr. Agus
We started where software usually fails — on the streets. On-site interviews and usability tests with merchants across Surakarta, from traditional stalls in Pasar Gede to street beverage kiosks, revealed one universal pattern:

Kiosk owners like our persona Mr. Agus worked long days with full cash drawers, yet had no idea whether they were profitable or burning working capital:
- Personal living costs and inventory capital lived in the same pocket.
- Over 70% of merchants jotted sales on scrap paper — or not at all.
- Mainstream POS systems felt like overkill: built for modern cafes, not street kiosks needing speed and offline resilience.
What We Built
One core constraint drove every design decision: any interaction taking more than thirty seconds behind a busy counter will not survive.

Four core capabilities:
- 3-tap cashier (Item → Amount → Digital Receipt) with automatic margin calculations.
- X-Score: an algorithmic financial health check that flags working capital deficits before insolvency.
- Automated website generator — a professional web showcase, no code needed.
- Direct access to mentors and bite-sized financial literacy courses.

Market Sizing & Pricing
Indonesia has 65+ million MSMEs; more than 40 million still operate entirely offline. Pricing was designed to kill onboarding friction while keeping sustainable margins.

- Growth tier — Rp 24.999/month: core POS cashier, automated daily bookkeeping, risk detection.
- Elite tier — Rp 99.999/month: custom digital storefronts + direct technical support.
Door-to-door validation, community workshops, and organic social campaigns confirmed genuine demand for simple, unbloated bookkeeping tools.
Team & Mentorship
Five clear roles: Ahmad Bachtiar (CEO), Fransiska Feby (COO), Ralvy Athaya (CPO), Afifah Nurwidad (CMO), and Widi Setiawan (CFO) — mentored by Yudha Mei Lukmana at INAmikro.

Final Evaluation
Our MVP, business model canvas, and financial projections went before the evaluation board and industry leaders. Result: A grade — 93.6/100 (562 total points) across all six operational competencies.

What We Learned
"Designing for micro-enterprises is not about feature density — it's about ruthless subtraction. If a tool demands extra cognitive effort during peak hours, merchants abandon it. Simplicity is the only real retention moat."
